The initial focus of Shepherd Pacific was to acquire a single business in the Pacific Northwest. As of April 1, 2022, Shepherd Pacific has acquired InStore Technology and Tom is dedicating 100% of his efforts to continuing and strengthening the company’s long history of service to independent grocers.

Shepherd Pacific will continue to selectively invest in acquisitions to enable other entrepreneurs to pursue their goals of business ownership and leadership.

PROFILE

TOM COURLAS

A Pacific Northwest native, Tom has spent the majority of his career in bridge roles between corporate finance and operations. Tom is the founder of Shepherd Pacific and Chief Executive Officer of InStore Technology.

Prior to acquiring InStore Technology, Tom consolidated, led, and grew the Equipment Group at Clark Construction, an $18m EBITDA national business unit managing and deploying heavy equipment and related services. His primary focus centered on optimal capital allocation. He has prior experience at Rolls-Royce, where he worked in operationally-focused finance roles at manufacturing sites in the USA, England, and Brazil.

Tom earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
